Bhavin Shah is a Behavioural Optometrist with over 20 years’ experience in delivering quality eye careand a passion for helping patients maximise their visual potential.

Having qualified as an optometrist at UMIST in 1996, Bhavin worked for a national optician’s chain for over 10 years before setting up his own independent practices, Central Vision Opticians, in north London. He is driven by a passion to further understand how we can all make the best use of our eyes.
Bhavin started training as a Behavioural Optometrist in 2008. As a father of two, he is passionate about literacy, comprehension and the need for every child to be able to develop the skills needed to achieve their full learning potential. This is especially important in specific difficulties such as dyslexia where he has helped children and adults by correcting visual problems with glasses and vision therapy and providing strategies to help students. Many children have benefited from his Reading EdgeTM Programme for improving visual skills.
As a curious scientist with a penchant for innovation and problem solving as well as an early adopter of new technologies, Bhavin believed there would be an opportunity to leverage new technology to support the diagnosis and therapy of eye-related conditions.
Bhavin is also the co-founder of Okimo, a technology start-up that has developed bespoke eye-tracking technology which can assess eye movements and visual tracking something that is a common problem in kids with dyslexia.
As a member of parent support groups for dyslexia, Bhavin shares his insight and knowledge to help parents as an expert panel member. He often gives talks on visual difficulties so parents can understand how they can best support their children in their visual development.
